Into the Archives 45-New Year 2000

1/5/2012
Happy New Year 2000 from Chicago! Yes, that is how my family and I rang in the new year and century. We were there with dad who was working on a Michael Moschen show (Michael is a juggler).
Even little KEW, who wasn't quite 1 yet, stayed up until midnight.
I remember very small snippets from this trip. I remember walking passed beautiful shop windows in down town at night. I think I remember the hotel but I could be mixing it up with other memories from when I spent a lot of time in hotels as a young girl.
We stayed in a big, fancy hotel!

I don't think I quite realized why this new year was so special but I still understood it was important for some reason. Now thinking back it was actually really quite amazing!

Into the Archives 35~Airport Family Reunion

10/27/2011
Here are lots of people sitting in the airport.
They happen to be aunts, uncles, cousins etc from my moms side.
This picture was a particular tricky one to find information about. I think I might have a very vague memory about being there but who knows. After emailing a few of the people in this picture, aunt Kari was the one that remembered the details. This is what uncle Allen sent in response:

"Well Kari has a memory of steel…

She remembers this was in February just before Valentine’s Day. Carol was flying to or from California and had a brief layover in SLC. Since there wasn’t enough time to go to Nanna’s house for a visit, we all came to the airport and had a brief reunion. We had the great BK meal for the party.

You can tell it was pre 911 since we are at the gate."

I thought that last part was a pretty funny observation.

Into the Archives-8

It was my 4th birthday in 2000 and I adored Pooh Bear. (I still have a soft spot for that little character.) Hence the extravagant cake that mom made. What's even better...we still have those little toys from the cake.
