Into the Archives 61-Another Day of Crazy Hair

Back in 2011 I did an ITA about crazy hair which included the cone head hairdo. Today, I have a picture of it for you. On this day, some time in 2009, EJ and I were coming up with a fun activity to do together. We decided on doing our hair like this and walking around the neighborhood to see peoples reactions. Sure enough, we got some strange looks and some good laughs.

Is there actually a way to eat s'mores gracefully? I sure haven't found a way.

Into the Archives 47-Track Meet 2009

I haven't done an ITA since 2012 but I think I'm ready to start the "second season", if you will. So here it goes...

Today I'd like to show you a video of one of my very first track meets. In 2009, I was invited to join a team at a nearby Catholic school team and said why not. I pretty much had no idea what I was doing back then. But that foundational year was the start of something that has become very important to me. This year marks my last year of track in grade school for me so what better way to commemorate these years than to see where it all began.

Into the Archives 47-Human Exhibit

Another adventure while volunteering at the nature canter!
On this day in 2009 my friend and I were being exceptional nuts.
This large cage was looking lonely without a current occupant...
...so we took the job.

Into the Archives 42-Princess and King Ball

 12/15/2011
Our stake has an annual father/daughter dance for Beehives (12-13 year old girls). This was my first year when I was 12.
It was at the end of January 2009.
There is a post on my family blog from right afterwords. This is what my mom said:
"KQW invited her friend EJ to join her at a Stake Young Women’s Activity where girls and their dads enjoyed a royal evening of dinner and dancing.  Neither KQW nor Eric are much into line dancing so they had a great time visiting with friends while EJ and her dad danced “for them”.  (I had fun fussing with hair-dos before sending them off for a special evening.)"

Me and my little friend Bunny. She was the special little girl that got to go even though she was just a little too young.

As my mom said, I didn't really dance at all. I was still a little shy and self conscious back then (oh but you should see me now). In the two years that we went to this dance, I actually slow danced with my dad for half a song. Now that I just go to "normal" dances (normal meaning with people more my age) I have found that, crazy enough, its easier to dance with a stranger that is my age than my dad. I feel like that's kind of wrong...but what can I do?

While visiting family in Utah, Summer 2009, Nana (moms mom) helped my cousin Lexi and I make aprons. Nana took us to the store where we chose our fabric and then she taught us how to use her sewing machines.
Thanks Nana!
Currently my apron is still going strong and is well used. Like...basically every day. Love it!!!

5/26/2011

Today in honor of track I am going back almost exactly 2 years and showing you a movie of what practice looked like on my previous team in 2009. (Man I had bad form back then!) Yeah it doesn't have a whole lot of me in it but its close enough.
Its long so don't watch the whole thing unless you really want to!
OK yeah so I just watched it all the way through...its pretty boring. I show up about 2 or 3 times. Oh well its too late to care. I think its funny. I don't remembering it being that painful.
To see something more interesting go to the family blog and check out that post:
