Johnny Lingo and Old Spice

For YW activities this week we watched Johnny Lingo and then had to make up our own short Self Worth (or Individual Worth) skit/commercials. Compared to this one my groups skit was lame. This was beyond funny and I laugh every time I watch it.. Which has been a lot...

Sushi is All I Really Need

So last Monday was my birthday. Nothing special. I went to a Japanese restaurant for dinner. That was delicious. And that's pretty much it because that is what will satisfy me. Just give me some sushi and I'll be good!
But there was one present that you should see. OK two. We'll start with the candy. My stake YW president gave me this adorable "chocolate shake".

And then there was the new camera from my parents that they got off of Craig's List. Didn't see that one coming. Its a 2003 Canon ESO Rebel. Unfortunately its been having some problems. First the CF card reader in the camera was having issues. Dad ended up opening it up and thankfully fixing it and successfully putting it back together. After that some of the buttons stopped working. We are thinking its because something in the camera came loose when it was taken apart. It still works and I can take pictures but there are some settings that I can't use. But its all good. My dad said he could open it up again sometime and see what he can do. Till then I can figure out how to do other things!

Into the Archives-13

5/26/2011

Today in honor of track I am going back almost exactly 2 years and showing you a movie of what practice looked like on my previous team in 2009. (Man I had bad form back then!) Yeah it doesn't have a whole lot of me in it but its close enough.
Its long so don't watch the whole thing unless you really want to!
OK yeah so I just watched it all the way through...its pretty boring. I show up about 2 or 3 times. Oh well its too late to care. I think its funny. I don't remembering it being that painful.
To see something more interesting go to the family blog and check out that post:

Track is Fun!

"Track is FUN! It's the bestest sport!" Those are some of my coaches most famous lines. I have to agree.
For our parents...well not so much... From a parents point of view: "You are sitting there from dawn to dusk doing NOTHING!"
From my point of view: "I'm hanging out with my friends from dawn to dusk! Track is fun!!! Oh yeah and there is the running part too. I love running so that is a great bonus."
Soooo...about the sitting and waiting part. This is what it could look like.
"Could" meaning this is just a snap shot. No one stays under the tents for more than a few minutes. This was one rare time that a decent portion of the team was under the tents at one time.
Most of the time it looks more like this. Sitting out in the open air. Getting sun burnt? Yes. But for some reason its so much better out in the heat. (???) What am I saying? I do it a lot too.
Anyway my field event is long jump. Don't make me do anything else because I stink at the rest. Trust me. I've tried most of it.
Well back to the sun. Back to getting burnt. Back to making crazy faces at the camera.
And this is our agenda: Run, sit, talk, take pictures and repeat.
(BTW...I'm the one in lane 8.)
"Speaking of the sun..."
"...Let's go find some shade..."
"...And take more pictures!"
"OK Breadon. That's enough pictures. I don't want to spend a whole day deleting them."
Back to serious business. The relay...

Bottom line. I'm not the best runner. At all. Well not speed wise a least. But that is totally OK. It's the fun you have that counts and I like that rule. So in that case...I had a whole lot of fun in these past (short) 5 months!

5/19/2011

Because my birthday is next week I figured I should do an ITA post on a past birthday.
Well I have very few pictures of any party or a birthday something so I picked this one. It was from 2006 so that means I was turning...oh let's see...10. Wow that was 5 years ago! Anyway the theme was about monkeys or something. I think the year before it was a jungle theme so I already knew how to decorate! I used ideas from the Family Fun magazine and American Girls Snooze-a-Palooza! I just invited two friends. It was small and simple yet very fun!

A few more pictures!

Into the Archives-11

5/13/2011
Well blogger was down most of the day yesterday so here is the post that I would have posted.

There is this plastic horse at one of our local grocery stores. And oh my goodness it rocks back and forth. Every kid has to ride it! Once an employee gave us each a token to make it work.
Anyway this picture was from 2005. I am helping TPW who was only 4 or 5 months old do his ride.

Oh yeah and about a year ago TPW was asking if he could ride it. Mom said no. He kept asking and he ended up getting onto the horse to make his point. I went over to show him that unless you put a quarter into the slot of the box next to the horse it wont work. Then I pressed the button. And it started. Oops. ;-)

 5/5/2011

Today I am doing something kind of different. I'm not actually in the picture. It's a paper version of me is!
In 2007 I did a project based on the book Flat Stanly. I made my own flat self and sent "myself" to Chile where my Uncle, Aunt and cousins (used to) live. They took "me" on a tour of their city. Here I am eying some sea food!
I have a bunch of extra pictures today!

P.S. Happy Cinco De Mayo! Hope you're eating good Mexican food today.

Sunburn Relief

Being the reckless person that I am I get a sunburn every once and a while. (At least one bad one a year.) This is what I have found to help the most.

A Recipe for Sunburn Relief
Cotton Balls
2 or more Washcloths
Apple Cider Vinegar*
A Plugged Sink or Very Large Bowl
Ice (Optional but recommended)

Fill the sink or bowl with cold water and some ice. Then swirl the washcloths in the water so they get completely wet. Wet a cotton ball with vinegar and dab it all over the burn and place a wash cloth over the top. Wait until the cloth is warm (it will only take a few seconds at first) and replace it with a cold one and put the old one back in the water. Do this for about an hour or until you’re finished. Then take a cool shower to wash off the vinegar.
Last time after I got out of the shower I put my face in the sink of water. That felt really good. I think that helped the most. (But it probably looked like I was trying to drown myself.)

*Other vinegar works but ACV is more mild so you’re eyes don’t sting as much (if the burn is on your face.)
My face the day after an all day track meet.

Kindness Begins With Me!

If you haven't seen this already I would recommend it. Very interesting.
